AMBALA, Haryana—With the motive of energizing the movement for the release of Sikh political prisoners, Sikh activist Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa has appealed to youths to sit a hunger strike for a day on December 25 in order to pressurize the governments to take requisite step to release the Sikh detainees.
Bhai Khalsa has been sitting on a fast unto death for the last 40 days for the release of Sikh detainees who are languishing in various jails of India despite completion of their jail terms. Bhai Khalsa has lost his weight by 17 Kg and his health condition is quite critical.
He is receiving support from all sections of Sikhs of the Indian sub-continent and abroad as well as numerous sections of civil society of Punjab. However, the government has not taken any notice of the strike which shows that the government is not sincere in accommodating the genuine demands of Bhai Khalsa.
