AMRITSAR SAHIB—Earlier this week, Bhai Narain Singh Chaura appeared at the additional sessions court in Ropar, charged with possessing a large arsenal of weapons and explosives. Bhai Narain Singh is one of those political prisoners who speak the truth fearlessly, and take a stand courageously. He is a true Gursikh who cannot be bought by the corrupt system, this is why the State fear him so much. Government of India has attempted to silence him by burying him under a number of cases related to the Arms Act and Unlawful Activities Act.
Similarly, Bhai Pal Singh from France is also enduring the same treatment. Narain Singh said that neither he, nor Pal Singh, were involved in any of the terrorist activities or crimes against the State that they have been accused of and the courts have acquitted them in many of these cases. Yet, the Punjab police still pursues them by registering more false cases.
Bhai Narain Singh will next testify in court via video conferencing on 23rd July and in person on 4th August. It is worth noting that whenever Bhai Narain Singh or Pal Singh appear in court, the surrounding area goes into lock down and all members of public entering the area are thoroughly searched amid tight security. An atmosphere of fear is created as if a high category, dangerous criminal is about to enter the public arena, whereas the truth of the matter is both these elderly gentlemen are highly respected intellectuals, who have dedicated their lives to protecting the human rights of others and spreading the love of Sikhi as taught by our Gurus.
