AMRITSAR SAHIB—The Sikh leaders of Haryana, including Jagdish Singh Jhinda, Didar Singh Nalwi, Apar Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Gurmeet Singh did not appear on Wednesday at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on the call of appointed Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh.  These leaders have requested an extension of 4 days, which gives them ample time to go with the proposed plan of announcing a separate committee on July 6.

Giani Gurbachan Singh, on the other hand, has constituted a 10 member panel and asked Jhinda and Nalwi group to meet this panel in Kurukshetra on Thursday at 11:00 AM to discuss this issue. In addition to this, Jathedar has appealed Haryana Sikhs not to support separate Gurdwara panel for the state.

The panel includes the following Sikhs –

Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma, Damdami Taksal
Baba Balbir Singh, Budha Dal
Teja Singh MA
Sant Ram Singh, Singrah, Nanaksar, Karnal
Sant Joga Singh, Karnal
Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, General Secretary SGPC
Rajinder Singh Mehta, member Interim committee SGPC
Karnail Singh Panjauli, member Interim committee SGPC
Diyal Singh Koliyanwali, member interim committee SGPC
Dalmegh Singh, SGPC Secretary

Giani Gurbachan Singh, the appointed Jathedar, has constituted the panel of various Sikh leaders to compel Haryana leaders against separate Gurdwara panel.   The panel has been asked to reach Kurukshetra tomorrow.  Interestingly, some of the members on the panel are leaders of Sikh organizations that do not follow guidelines set in the All India Gurdwara Act of 1925, or those passed by the SGPC.  Namely, Baba Dhumma, Baba Balbir Singh and Sant Ram Singh are members of ‘Sant Sampradas’ having their own distinctive maryada, and SGPC enjoys no control over their Gurdwaras or institutions.
