AMBALA, Haryana—After facing immense pressure from ruling Congress Government in Haryana in the Gurdwara Committee issue, the SAD (B) has announced to contest the upcoming Assembly Polls there.  Continuing its alliance with Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) led by Om Parkash Chautala, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) will be field its candidates in the elections.

In a press conference held here, the party general secretary and Member of Parliament Prem Chandumajra stated that “there was no doubt that the SAD (B) was the part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at center, however in Haryana specifically, it has an alliance with INLD.” He said that in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the SAD (B) had supported the INLD candidates from Haryana.

Chandumajra added, “SAD (B) will make sincere effort to bring the BJP and the INLD on board so that Congress could be rooted out from the state”, admitting that the SAD (B), being a political partner of the NDA, could play crucial role in forthcoming elections.

He criticized the move for constituting a separate Gurdwara committee for Haryana, claiming that some of the Sikh leaders of the state had been conspiring to weaken sanctity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He slammed Congress for encouraging conspirators to divide the Sikh community for its political gain.

Chandumajra stated that the State Government had not granted no objection certificate (NOC) for the Miri Piri Medical College that is being constructed by the SGPC in Shahbad (Kurukshetra) even after requesting it repeatedly. On a question regarding Satluj-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, he refused to make any comment.
