AMRITSAR SAHIB—In view of persistent efforts being made by Haryana Government and Sikh leaders of the State to ensure formation of separate Gurdwara management committee, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak committee (SGPC) will be holding an important meeting in Chandigarh today.

SGPC Secretary Dalmegh Singh has called SGPC executive committee members to attend the meeting in Chandigarh.  The single-point agenda of the meeting is to deliberate on “the Haryana Government’s move at weakening the premiere Sikh organisation and challenging its jurisdiction.”

However, the question remains unanswered as to what the SGPC intends to do by holding this meeting.  Sikh24 has learned that SGPC might seek legal opinion on the matter.  Notably, SGPC and Akali Dal (B) have held meetings with Center Government to seek assistance in crushing opposition in Haryana.
