BJP, Strongest and Oldest Ally of Akali Dal: Parkash Badal

NEW DELHI, India—Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Badal, and Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Badal, met with Narendra Modi at the Gujarat Bhawan in New Delhi.  Both senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally in Punjab, congratulated Modi and promised to work together for the betterment of the country.

After having congratulated Modi, Parkash Badal termed BJP as the strongest and oldest ally of the Akali Dal.  Badal stated that Modi would be an excellent Prime Minister of the country and his victory is a “world record” in itself.  Badal stated that BJP and Akali Dal were conjoined together and despite any minor issues, these could never be separated.

Badal refused to comment when asked about Harsimrat Badal joining the cabinet team of Modi, while stating that only the Prime Minister has the right to make such decisions.  He said that Harsimrat has a lot to learn as Member of Parliament (MP).
