Kiran Bedi Seeks to be Next Chief Minister of Delhi

NEW DELHI, India—Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Kiran Bedi, has hinted at joining the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) if she is made the Chief Minister of Delhi.  Kiran Bedi joined the nexus with Narendra Modi in the recently contested Lok Sabha elections however she has not officially joined any political party.

Kiran Bedi has told the press that she is ready to accept such an offer by the BJP, and she is ready to contest elections on behest of the party against former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Kejriwal was elected Chief Minister, however he resigned after the Parliament refused to pass the Jan Lokpal bill.  Kejriwal is seeking re-elections to form a government in New Delhi with majority, however due to a recent crusade by the BJP in the nation, such a chance seems slim now.

This past December, Harsh Vardhan, was projected by the BJP as Chief Minister (CM) candidate for New Delhi, he has now won a Lok Sabha seat, clearing way for another candidate to contest assembly polls.

Kiran Bedi is part of the core team of Anna Hazare and had previously sought implementation of the Jan Lokpal bill, along with Arvind Kejriwal.
