dateline:Bollywood Actor Sunny Deol and Punjabi actor Guggu Gill carried out a road show in favour of Sukhdev Dhindsa, SAD BJP Candidate, in hopes of reviving his chance to Lok Sabha. The road show turned into a mishap when a truck ran over two motorcyclists, killing one on spot. The youth, Birbal Singh, who was killed was lured into attending the rally by Akali activists who had offered him money for patrol.
The injured youth was admitted to Sangrur’s Civil Hospital in critical condition. Truck driver is on the run and no arrests have been made so far. Several traffic lapses were noticed during the road show.
Bhagwant Mann, Sukhdev Dhindsa’s opponent expressed grief over the incident and termed the death as a “murder” by the Akalis. He alleged that it was unfortunate that Akalis carried on with the road show despite the tragic incident.
Sunny Deol and Gunnu Gill were specially invited to lead the road show.
