8571_bhai_baljit_singh_bhauNEW DELHI—Bhai Daya Singh Loharia and Bhai Baljit Singh Bhau were produced in a Delhi court in front of Honorable Judge Daya Parkash. They were under high security provided by the Punjab police in relation to the Sacha Sauda cult case registered under F.I.R. no. 77/2007 under section 25(1),120 and 121A.

After appearing in the court, Bhai Baljit Singh Bhau addressed the press. As per Journalist Manpreet Singh Khalsa, Bhai Bhau said that the appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib had taken on the responsibility of getting the permanent release of Sikh political prisoners when they were out on parole. On the assurance of the jathedar, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh had broken his hunger strike. Now that all the Sikhs have completed their parole and are back in jail, nothing is known about the release of these Sikhs to the nation.

He said that in the Sikh Panth, jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib is supposed to be the highest authority.  An important example of this in Sikh history is when Akali  Phoola Singh Ji did not hesitate to give punishment to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who was tied to a tree and beaten. Bhai Bhau asked, will the Jathedar of Akal Takht learn a lesson from this and press upon the Punjab government for the permanent release of these Sikhs or will he bow down before government?

He continued, saying that the prisoners are grateful to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, whose hunger strike has made known to the world how Sikhs are being kept in jail for the last 20 years and that they are not released after they have completed their sentences.

Senior advocate S. Maninder  Singh, his assistant Mr. Jagmeet Randhawa, and Sanjay Chobae appeared on behalf of Bhai Baljeet Singh and Mr. Bunkin Kulsreshta appeared on behalf of Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria and Sukhwinder Singh. Next hearing will be on 13th and 14th March.
