:dateline:After a meeting at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Panj Singh Sahiban (Highest presidium of Sikhs) have issued a Hukamnama (edict) to Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa to end his hunger strike as process for release of 6 Sikh political prisoners has already started.
Giving his reaction to the edict, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh said that he respects the hukamanam but meanwhile the Jathedars must also listen his view-point as he has undertaken the fast after a vow for ensuring release of Sikh prisoners in presence of Guru granth Sahib.
Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh, has slammed the edict stating that the Akal Takht Sahib Jathedars decision ordering Bhai Gurbakash Singh to end fast was too late and contrary to Sikh feelings and aspirations. Strong criticism is expected to arrive from different Panthik Jathebandis as Takhat Jathedars have failed to take a strong position in this movement.
Earlier this week, S. Amar Singh Chahal, senior advocate who is overseeing the release of Sikh prisoners told Sikh24 that had the Jathedars taken a strong stop and issued edicts to SGPC and State Government, the release would have been achieved by now.
