bhai_gurbaksh_singh_amb_sahibSahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab—The hunger strike by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has entered Day 17 at Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali.  Bhai Sahib is said to have lost a lot of weight but he is in rising spirits.  He is trying to bring awareness towards the plight of hundreds of Sikhs illegally lodged in jails across India.  Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has received support from a number of Sikh organizations, however to the dismay of the Sikh community, Sikh leadership has not expressed any support.

Bhai Gurbasksh Singh wants Sikhs who have completed their sentences to be released from jails.

Indian media has not given any kind of publicity to the efforts by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.  While in India, it may take a long time to gain public support amongst the masses, Sikhs living in the West have expressed complete support to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.

Sikh24 has learned from its sources that the recent clash at Dhudike was carried out to divert the attention of Sikhs.  In addition, Badal Government may have issued strict guidelines to not support Bhai Gurbaksh Singh in any way.  It is perhaps for this reason that the appointed Takht Jathedars have not come out to support Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.

Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Babbar Khalsa, has issued a statement asking the Khalsa Panth to show full support for Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.  Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora’s brother met with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s brother.  Bhai Bheora is also lodged in the Tihar Jail with Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara.
