Alleged Former Fugitive in False 1993 Arms Case Acquitted by Terrorism Court (Ludhiana)

LUDHIANA, Punjab—A Ludhiana Special Terrorism And Disruptive Acts (TADA) Court, today acquitted Rajinder Singh (Pappa) who had been arrested in February 1993 and charged with a number of politically motivated cases under the Arms Act and the TADA Act, which expired in 1995.

Rajinder Singh who is a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib, was released on bail in May 1997, from Nabha Maximum Security Jail. However, due to the failure of a key witness (a Major in the Indian Military) to appear in court, Rajinder Singh’s case was left in limbo.

During this time Rajinder Singh sought political asylum in England. The Court declared him a fugitive in February 2002. Today, he has been cleared of all charges after he presented himself to the Ludhiana TADA Court in February of this year.
