LOS ANGELES, California, USA—According to a release by United Sikhs, Pikey Cafe and Bar have agreed to take down the depictions of Guru Sahib located in their bar area.

The bar and pub in the city of Hollywood, near Los Angeles, California displayed depictions of the Sikh Gurus throughout the bar where alcoholic beverages are served.  Sikhs are members of a peace loving religion founded 500 years ago in Punjab, now located in Northern India.  Consumption of alcoholic beverages is forbidden in the Sikh religion.

Sikhs have alleged that such depictions have greatly hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.  United Sikhs created a petition to request the owners of the bars to take quick action and remove all pictures and depictions relating to the Sikh Gurus from the bar.

After an overwhelming response from the community, Halleluyah Walcott, the assistant manager has confirmed that the management has agreed to take down Guru Sahib’s depictions. United Sikhs was in contact with Pikey Cafe and Bar management since the night of August 29th when news of the bar broke out.

Within a couple days the pictures were taken off their website but it was with the support of the community that they agreed to remove them from the bar.
