? ?????? ???????
Of course, associating Sikh gurus with liquor is not a good thing. I am very sure that the bar’s intensions were not to hurt anyone’s faith, and therefore I completely do NOT support the comment made above that a strict action should be taken against the bar.
Another comment was made that Sikh Gurus are only for ‘pure’ places. As far as I know Gurbani says, God/???????? is everywhere. So looking at that statement there is NO place where God can’t be. Yes, I mean, God even exists in the bars as well.
If the owner of this bar had placed Guru Granth Sahib in the bar then it would be a huge deal, but these are just pictures, and worshiping idols, pictures, etc. are absolutely restricted in Sikhism. By treating those pictures like GOD we (Sikhs) are disobeying our founding Gurus.
Even when these pictures are off this bar’s walls, God, ????????, Gurbani, Faith will still be in this bar.
Think rational, people!
this is ridiculous that it caused an uproar, alcohol is banned by Sikhism lol ya right 90% of us drink ever been to a punjabi wedding? hypocrites i say leave em up i would drink there people should get a life and mind thier own business
the fact is the picutres dont belong in a bar or a club, so its not out of proportion!
Islam religion would NEVER allow it, why should we lower ourselves. We have morals, not like you mg.
And if your from england you know what the would ‘PIKEY’ means. It means like trailer trash.
Are you kidding me ? This was blown way out of proportion and that reaction was completely unwarranted. I find it very hypocritical, as more than half of the “Sikh” men (and even women) that I know drink like fish! Have you ever seen a punjabi/Sikh wedding? granted, perhaps the pictures of the Guru would be best left in places where the main idea is to drink, people still have these pictures in their homes (kitchens, dining rooms, what have you) yet they still drink and throw raucous parties there…..
Definitely agree with you there. Lots of hypocrisy here with Sikhs + Punjabi culture. My grandparents have the Gurus pictured in their living room, which is 5 feet from their mini-bar.

Jithai j?e bahai mer? sa?gur? so th?n suh?v? r?m r?je.
Wherever my True Guru goes and sits, that place is beautiful, O Lord King.
(?? 4 (???? 450, ??? 17), Guru Granth Sahib)
Let’s not blow this out of proportion, in the UK there are meat shops with the Guru’s paintings, and they play Sikh prayers on the radio etc. We have the paintings in our homes where we drink alcohol and eat meat too. At the end of the day we’re not meant to even have these paintings as it can lead to idol worship which is forbidden in Sikhi. Yes it’s a sensitive subject and yes the bar owner should not have these paintings on the walls in such a place, but again, let’s not get all high and mighty about it. People should be educated about Sikhi and shown how such things like this are sensitive to a religious group.
Absolutely! You said it very well, as well.
There doesn’t seem to be any intended malice in the use of the imagery. Stepping down from one’s high horse is probably advisable.
@ pragmatist We reserve the right to be offended in seeing our gurus pictures displayed in places that are unholy. No one here is on a “high horse” as you said, instead we are hurt and request the pictures to be removed. If this was truly unintentional, then that shouldn’t be a problem.
the pressure of the khalsa must be felt otherwise you may end up as charokee helicopters not a nation keep on gaurd and tell the american to behave.
I am saddened by the response of the Sikh community representing us by using hateful responses they are receiving. We are a peace loving community not to be fueled by hate or anger.
I live around the area and talked to someone at the bar over the phone today. They agreed to remove the photos immediately and apologized for it. I really think it was an honest mistake. Maybe owner thought it was some random pictures of Maharajas (Kings) of India.
Thanks Human Being for making an effort for the good cause of sikhs
Being handled poorly it appears. A Gurdwara should calmly explain their concerns and offer to purchase the paintings in light of the misunderstanding and suggest alternatives to management who probably had no clue what they displayed.
Such an bad act strict action mus to be taken..
our gurus are for pure places..
