COVENTRY, UK—A TEENAGE girl has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an 80-year-old man – leaving him with a bloodied nose and black eye – in a nasty Coventry city centre attack.
The 19-year-old was arrested at around 6.30pm today (August 16) after police traced her to an address in Gloucester.
She will be taken to a West Midlands Police station where she will be questioned about the attack in Trinity Street, Coventry, on Saturday evening (August 10) when the elderly victim was punched in the face and shoved to the ground.
A video of the attack – recorded by a passer-by on their mobile phone – had been circulated widely on social media throughout today and met with a wave of revulsion from viewers.
Coventry Police Chief Superintendent Andy Nicholson, said: “This was a despicable, violent attack on an elderly man in broad daylight. The victim is an 80-year-old man – he was left with a bloodied nose and a black eye.
“A video showing the assault spread rapidly on social media and quite rightly the offender’s actions are being condemned by everyone who’s viewed it.”
The attack, which appears unprovoked, happened at around 8.30pm on Saturday evening near Sainsbury’s in Coventry’s Trinity Street.
Police are still keen to hear from people who witnessed the incident and moments leading up to the attack – and have urged anyone who shared the video or still images of the assault to remove them from social media accounts as they could hinder the enquiry.

Well, first of all we need to enquire why the girl attacked the sikh? Did the sikh man do anything wrong with her that agitated her? Please focus on the “Cause” instead of “action.”

We Sikhs are pure, perfect and fully compliance with civilized society hence never offends or disrespects anyone as our history from Punjab to all over the universe. This case is not shocking or surprise as we Sikhs blame on opponents even in our own family litigation. We do not hesitate to take false oaths, prepare false evidence and false witness raising hands without any dignity. We do not have self-respect hence over look all the records in most of the legal courts and daily fights at our religion places. We do not have any organization, team or channel to review, investigate but taught us to bark. Sikh seniors are contaminated humans those have destroyed our own religion, communities, future of our generation and now start destroying the entire world. It is white peoples fault those privilege us with perks.

I am a white british/dutch girl married to a Sikh boy who supports his turban and beard with a great pride. I had studied Sikhism and converted to this beautiful religion. I am ashamed to be white if to be white is anyway superior.

The problem is that people do not realise the seriousness of what’s happened. Shocking yes. Disturbing yes. But this is a racist attack by someone who has neither any morals or scruples about anything or anyone. No respect for religion or otherwise.

Please – I beg of you…make an example out of this evil girl! The entire Asian community should stand up and go out to make sure that she’s thrown in jail for a good several years…. community service aint gonna cut it.
The government or the police should make a spectacle out of someone as vicious and cruel who clearly has no place in a civilised and supposedly developed society. A ruling in this case should be a deterrent and be scary for someone even thinking about doing this in the future!!
