SGPC Announces Progressive Education Programs Among Other Initiatives

sgpc-logoAmritsar Sahib—SGPC chief Avtar Makkar inaugurated  a specially designed vehicle showcasing 500 books for promoting the Sikh religion in Haryana. The fully air conditioned vehicle made with an expenditure of Rs 1.2 million was dispatched from the  SGPC office. Makkar  made several other announcements in a press conference including the free education of amritdhari children in Grades 1 to 12.

Speaking with the media, he said that in addition to these reforms, 5 Sikh girls from Jammu and Kashmir would be provided with free higher education in degree and diploma courses  in SGPC run institutes.

Makkar said that he had a word with The Pakistan High Commission regarding visas to jatha members and a SGPC jatha would visit Pakistan on June 12 to observe the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

On the issue of the Sikh Genocide and Operation Blue Star Memorial he said that the decision taken by Akal Takht Sahib and Panj Singh Sahiban would be acceptable by them.

The meeting was attended by several SGPC members including Rajinder Singh Mehta, Gurbachan Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Satbeer singh, Roop Singh, Manjeet Singh , Daljeet Singh, Mahinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh,Partap Singh, Kulwinder Singh,Harminder Singh, Gurinder Singh and Harpreet Singh.
