AMRITSAR SAHIB—The struggle to see the Punjabi movie Sadda Haq on screens in India does not seem to end even after its release. The movie released on 10 May was not allowed to play in Delhi despite the fact that the Supreme Court has lifted the ban on the movie. The cinema owners were ordered by authorities not to show the movie.

Meanwhile the movie has been proved to be a success in Punjab and other parts of the country. It has managed to achieve appreciation from all communities including Shiv Sena—a right wing Hindu extremist group.

Rajeev Tandon (Convenor Shiv Sena Punjab)  said that after watching the show in Ludhiana they did not find anything derogatory against the Hindu community. He clarified that the movie basically focuses on the atrocities committed by the police and there were no objectionable scenes in the movie.

The movie portrays the freedom struggle in Punjab and exposes  the hardships that the people of Punjab had to undergo during those times.
