CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Lawyers for Human Rights International (LFHRI) Organisation has made eye opening revelations in its report related to the unprovoked Gurdaspur police firing that took life of Shaheed Bhai Jaspal Singh Ji in March 2012.  On March 29, a group of Sikhs gathered in Gurdaspur when their peaceful protest was brought to a halt by unprovoked police firing.  The firing took life of Bhai Jaspal Singh Ji and severely injured Ranjit Singh.

In the report released on May 16, LFHRI has presented evidence that concludes senior police officials worked to shield the police men responsible for firing bullets at the group of Sikhs.  It has also been argued that to weaken the case, fraudulent evidence and facts are being created by the police.

General Secretary of LFHRI – Advocate Navkiran Singh stated that after immense pressure, police was forced to register a police case in connection with Bhai Jaspal Singh’s death. However, no case has been registered in the matter of Ranjit Singh, who was also shot during the same incident by the police.  Ranjit Singh is still being treated from the assault rifle wounds he received from police bullets.  Navkiran Singh suggested for the truth to surface, CBI must conduct inquiry into the matter as the Civil Administrator of Gurdaspur has failed miserably.

According to the findings of LFHRI, the police has continued to argue that Bhai Jaspal Singh Ji was not murdered with shots fired by the police.  In addition, the Shiv Sena terrorists who were behind the entire terror plot are being shielded by the police.  These terrorists roam free despite non-bailable cases being registered against them.
