Pakistans emerging young left-arm spinner, Raza Hasan, believes that Monty Panesar (A Sikh Cricketer from the UK) is a better spinner than Graeme Swann. The 19-year-old cricketer also praised the performances of Pakistans spin-twins, Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman in international cricket.
Swann is considered to be one of the best spinners in the world of cricket at the present moment and has played a massive role in Englands success since the last couple of years. The off-spinner has helped England to become the number one ranked Test team of the world.
Monty, on the other hand has been in and out of England’snational team since the re-emergence of Swann in international cricket. However, the left-arm spinner still plays a big role for his team in the longer version of the sport in Asian conditions.
Raza, who is one of the best spinners in Pakistans domestic circuit, while talking to Pakpassion, expressed that he personally likes Monty because the left-arm spinner gives away nothing to the batsmen. The budding cricketer said that he liked the way Panesar bowled in the Test series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates (UAE), earlier this year.
I think Monty is better than Swann because he bowls more quickly and gets more grip. Swann relies on flighting the ball, and the game is such nowadays that the batsmen can use their feet and it’s hard to be successful. I learned a lot from watching Monty bowl in Dubai, about maintaining a consistent pace throughout the day, the young spinner said.
The left-arm bowler from Sialkot appreciated the performances of Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Reman and revealed that both of them have been helpful to him. Raza said that the two seasoned operators are doing a great job at the highest stage of the game but the selectors must give opportunities to the youngsters as well.
He added, Their performances are very good both are my seniors and I have a great deal of respect for them but alongside the seniors, youngsters also need to be able to gain experience of the atmosphere of international cricket.
Raza is considered to be a future prospect for Pakistan cricket and the selectors are keeping a close eye on his performances in domestic cricket.
