AMRITSAR SAHIB—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has again come under fire for honoring the former Chief Khalsa Diwan president Charanjit Chadha with ‘Siropao’ (robe of honor).
It is pertinent to note here that the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh had imposed two years ban on Charanjit Chadha from attending any religious or social gathering. The move had come after he had apologized before the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh for having immoral relationship with a woman Principal of CKD run school as his sleazy video had gone viral over social media.
Sources have informed that the SGPC employees honored him with ‘Siropao’ (robe of honor) after he donated a refrigerating machine of 800 liters capacity for keeping the milk cold.
On being contacted by Sikh24, SGPC’s additional secretary S. Diljeet Singh Bedi informed that the SGPC is probing the matter and an action will be taken against the guilty employees in coming days.
On the other hand, Charanjit Chadha told the media that the SGPC employees had honored his wife with ‘Siropao’ but she gave it to him.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that Charanjit Chadha had earlier also donated such a machine at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib and he was given ‘Siropao’ there also.
