351st Gurpurab: SGPC takes out religious procession in Amritsar Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Commemorated to the 351st parkash (birth) anniversary of tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh Ji, a religious procession was taken out by the SGPC, along with the Sri Guru Singh Sabha (Amritsar) on December 23. Ardas for the commencement of this religious procession was performed at Sri Akal Takht Sahib by the Head Granth of Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh following which the sacred corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was placed in the Gold Palanquin.

Local Sikh organizations of Amritsar Sahib, School students, Band parties etc. enthusiastically participated in this religious procession. Traversing through the Sri Guru Ram Dass Sarn, Brahm Buta Market, Clock tower cross road, the procession was concluded at Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the evening.

SGPC member Bhai Manjit Singh, SGPC Secretary Manjit Singh, Additional Secretaries Diljeet Singh Bedi, S. balwinder Singh Jaura Singha & Dr. Paramjit Singh Saroa, Personal Secretaries S. Jagjit Singh Jaggi & S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Manager S. Gurinder Singh, S. Malkit Singh Behadwal, President of Sri Guru Singh Sabha S. Anoop Singh Virdi, General Secretary Surinder Singh Rumale Wale, S. Ranbir Singh Chopra, S. Gurbakhsh Singh Bedi, S. Harmanjit Singh, S. Ajaib Singh, Thekedar Gurmeet Singh etc. were prominent among thousands of procession attendees.    

Meanwhile, Sikh24 has been informed that special manifestation of sacred religious artefacts will be held inside the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Ji on December 25 from 08:30 am to 12:00 o’clock. Following the Rehras Sahib, special lighting event will also be organized by busting fire crackers in the sky.

Special religious gatherings will also be held at the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Sri Manjit Sahib Diwan Hall on December. Renowned Sikh personalities, Raagis, Dhadi & Kavishari jathas will address the religious discourse on this eve.

  1. When are we going to get away from these brahminical calender’s and stick with our calendar the original Nanakshahi calendar.
