FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—The annual three days Khalsa Sports Meet 2017 concluded at Mata Gujri College of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on October 16. SGPC run Guru Nanak College of Budhlada won the overall trophy of this sports meet while Mata Gujri College (Fatehgarh Sahib) remained the runner up.
SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, Senior Vice President Baldev Singh Qaimpur and General Secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla honoured the winner and runner up teams of this sport meet. Three players of SGPC run Colleges and three players of SGPC run schools, who manifested extraordinary skills in sports, were honoured with a cash reward of Rupees 41,000, Rupees 31,000 & Rupees 21,000 respectively.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Prof. Badungar announced to give preference to the International and National Sikh players in recruitment into the SGPC. Recalling the importance of sports portrayed by the great Sikh Gurus, Prof. Badungar said that the great Sikh Gurus gave equal weight to physical as well as mental fitness. He appealed all the participant Sikh players to adopt Sikhi and live their lives as per Sikh tenets.
Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar announced to hold the next Khalsa Sports Meet 2018 at Guru Nanak Engineering College of Ludhiana.
