NEW DELHI—President of All India Riot Victims Relief Committee S. Kuldeep Singh Bhogal has appealed the victims of 1984 Sikh Genocide in Kanpur to avail him the copies of FIRs registered relating to the 1984 massacres.

Speaking with Sikh24, S. Kuldeep Singh Bhogal said, “Through the RTI (Right to Information Act), I tried to get information on pending cases, however I have come to know that many police stations destroy their record after five years.  It has been hard for us to locate original FIRs due to this.”

He appealed all victims of 1984 massacres to provide copies of their FIRs before April 24.  “FIR copies can be provided to S. Mohkam Singh of Gurdwara Bhai Banno Ji, office of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.  Victims can approach me personally to provide FIR copies as well,” he added.

“We have moved a petition before the Supreme Court of India seeking investigation of the massacre of Sikhs by Hindu mobs from a Special Investigation Team (SIT),” he told Sikh24.  “Supreme Court of India has sought information about the FIR’s registered pertaining to these cases in 1984, this is why we are reaching out to the Sikh masses.”

S. Kuldeep Singh Bhogal said that with the Supreme Court’s reaction on the matter a new ray of hope has emerged for the victim families of this massacre.
