BREAKING: Bhai Mann Singh Released From Ludhiana Jail

LUDHIANA—Following the Supreme Court’s ruling of acquitting 10 elderly Sikhs, accused of being involved in the Ludhiana Bank robbery case, Bhai Mann Singh was today released from Ludhiana jail in the evening hours.

A Sikh delegation comprising Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Bhai Jang Singh, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Bhai Bhavandeep Singh, S. Manvinder Singh Giaspura and others, warmly welcomed Bhai Mann Singh outside the Ludhiana jail premises by honouring him with Siropao.

On February 12, 1987 Sikh freedom fighters obtained 57 million rupees from the Millar Ganj branch of Punjab National Bank in Ludhiana. The robbery was documented as the “Biggest Bank Robbery” under “Curiosities and Wonders” in Limca Book of Records.

The Chicago Sun-Times had reported at that time that 12 to 15 Sikhs dressed as policemen and armed with sub-machine guns and rifles escaped with nearly $4.5 million USD, in the biggest bank robbery in Indian history.

The TADA Court in Ludhiana on November 20, 2012, sentenced 12 Sikhs to 10 years imprisonment each, in this case. Of these 12 persons, Bhai Daljeet Singh and Bhai Gursharan Singh Gamma had already completed their sentence, while the remaining 10 Sikhs were sent to prisons.

  1. Finally the disgusting Indian government releases Sikh prisoners but after their whole lives have passed by, they even release a 90 year old man who probably had many false charges against him which is so typical in corrupt India
