NEW DELHI, India—Delhi High Court today granted interim bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Tilak Nangar constituency and former journalist Jarnail Singh in a case of assaulting an engineer. A scuffle took place when Athar Mustafa, with his team and policemen, went to bring down an illegal structure in Krishna Park Extension area.
While granting interim bail to Jarnail Singh, Justice Sunita Gupta has directed the police not to arrest him till July 9, 2015 i.e. the next date of hearing in the case.
It is worth mentioning that Jarnail Singh came in the limelight after he hurled shoe toward the then Indian home minster P Chindabram in a high level press conference protesting against state’s approach of not delivering justice to Sikh nation for 1984 Sikh genocide. In Delhi assembly elections, he defeated Akali Dal (Badal) strong candidate Manjinder Sirsa.
