BATHINDA, Punjab—Backed by an Akali Minister, some miscreants assaulted Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) vice president Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj with gunfire this past Sunday.
Baba Hardeep Singh is ‘Mukh Sewadar’ of Gurdwara Gurusar Mehraj Patshahi Chhevi and a tireless Sikh freedom fighter.
As per information availed by various sources, Baba Hardeep Singh was going back to his residence when some armed men tried to stop his car. When they failed to do so, one of them fired a gunshot toward him which crossed the front glass of the car. Baba Jee escaped the deadly gunshot but sustain some injuries. Promptly, he informed Police Control room on 100 phone number and DSP Gurmit Singh Kingra, SHO of Nathana Police Station UC Chawla and other police personnel reached there and examined the spot.
Acting on statement of Baba jee, Baljit Singh Rampura, Sarpanch Nonehal Singh village Kothe Maha Singh, Jiwan Singh, Niranjan Singh and two unidentified persons were booked for carrying ammunition.
As per sources, Akali minister Sikandar Singh Maluka is reportedly behind the attack. Baba Hardeep Singh has also fingered toward him. He said attackers had been trying to take over Gurdwara Sahib which is managed under him. He said they also want to take possession of public school running under him for which he has lodged many complaints with Police. The accused have not been arrested yet.
It is worth mentioning that Baba Hardeep Singh is brave soldier of present Sikh struggle. Particularly, he played very active role in struggle against Sirsa based anti-Sikh cult named ‘Sacha Sauda’. He also lodged FIR against ‘Sacha Sauda’ head Gurmeet Ram Rahim. In struggle initiated by Bapu Surat Sing Khalsa for release of Sikh political prisoners, he was seen playing leading role in courting his arrests.
Various Sikh organizations have strongly condemned the attack.
