LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s son, Ravinder Jeet Singh “Gogi” was released today at 8:30 PM from Ludhiana Jail after a two-month long detention.  Ravinder Jeet Singh was arrested on February 26, 2015, when he was at the Ludhiana Civil Hospital overseeing his father’s health.  Gogi had travelled to India to look after his father’s deteriorating health.

The US Government had to intervene to seek the release of Ravinder Jeet Singh as he is a US Citizen.  Seven US Congressmen jointly signed a letter in support of Ravinder Jeet Singh’s release.

Ravinder Jeet Singh was severely tortured in police custody.  He was beaten using metal chains before one of his court hearings.  His father was released from police custody due to his fragile health this past Thursday.

It is important to mention that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike has reached 102 days.  He is struggling to seek release of Sikh political prisoners who have completed their terms.
