Nanak Shah Fakir: Role of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Played Through Silhouette by Actor

“Harish Khanna, my batch mate at National School of Drama, plays the role of Nanak sahab, but in the entire film, one can only see his silhouette, hand and hear his voice while giving sermons.”

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—This statement was given by Adil Hussain who plays the role of Rai Bullar in the upcoming movie Nanak Shah Fakir.  In a statement to the Indian Express, Hussain further states that, “When Sartaj got in touch with me, I was not sure how authentic it would be in terms of research as the film was on a great entity like Nanak sahab. I was initially offered a bigger role, but due to unavailability of dates, I now play Rai Bhullar, a rich man who is Nanak sahab’s constant companion. It is interesting since my character will be seen aging from 35 to 85 years, something that I have never done before.”

Harinder Sikka, the producer of the film had earlier stated that no one has played the role of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the film.  As per Sikka, only animations were used to portray the first Sikh Guru.

Sikh24 has written to the team of Nanak Shah Fakir movie to seek a clarification, however we have not received a response yet.

  1. I totally agree with the fact to ban this movie. Reasons are:

    1. It has been presented as a commercialised project as a form of a movie. Movies are made to entertain people and gain profit in terms of money. So why they did so to Sum up Guru ji’s life and HIS teachings to give it a shape of movie and bring to the cinema to earn profit out of this.

    2. We all regard Guru Nanak Dev ji as GOD. so will it be justify to honour HIS teachings to be presented in such a way in a form of Box office collection.

    3. Today’s era we needed humanity messages I agree, but this is not the correct form to give message. If one really want to serve the community then he/she can easily find the other way to pass the messages to younger generation by not hurting religious sentiments and not giving it a commercialised form.

    Thank you!

  2. It’s good to see that sikh 24 has raised voice against the movie. It is quite appreciable. But I request you that you will get real recognition only when movie will be actually banned. Please keep it up.
