Sikh Youth Front to support Bapu Soorat Singh Khalsa’s Struggle for Release of Sikh Prisoners

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bapu Soorat Singh Khalsa which is well known among Sikh circles for his Panthik contribution, is on hunger strike since January 16, 2015. He has started his hunger strike to complete the struggle initiated for the release of sikh detainees by Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh (Haryana).

Executive Body of Sikh Youth Front constituting Bhai Sharnjit Singh Rataul, Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khela, Bhai Shamsher Singh Koharhka, Bhai Papalpreet Singh and Bhai Pritpal Singh visited him at his home in village Hassanpur to announce support for his struggle. While talking to the team of frontiers, Bapu Soorat Singh Khalsa said that the concept of ‘Ardas’ is very important in life of a Sikh. He said that Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh has not completed the promises made in his ‘Ardas’.

“Personally I don’t believe in fast. I have started my struggle to complete the promises made in the Ardas by Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh”, he added.

Sikh devotees are visiting Bapu Soorat Singh Khalsa at his residence in Hassanpur. Punjab Government has also appointed intelligence workers outside his home to keep track of the activities. But Bapu Soorat Singh is firm to his path.

It is notable that Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh has two times terminated his hunger strike without achieving the targets.  Large number of Sikhs are upset because he broke the promises made in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib by terminating his hunger strike. Bapu Soorat Singh Khalsa has announced much earlier that if Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh will not complete his promises, he will start hunger strike substituting him.

Bapu Soorat Singh arrived in India from United States on November 16, 2015 after the initiation of Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh’s hunger strike.
