AMBALA, Haryana—Sikh activist Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa who is sitting on hunger strike since Nov 14, has warned to shun even drinking water if the government would not meet his demands by Jan 2 of releasing Sikh political prisoners permanently who are languishing in various jails of India despite having completed their terms.

Bhai Khalsa is observing the strike at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib Patshahi Dasveen near Ambala. He also observed a hunger strike for this cause one year ago but following the promise made by Akal Takht Sahib appointed Jathedar Gaini Gurbachan Singh, he ended his fast after 44 days. The Jathedar had promised to ensure the release of Sikh political prisoners but he has not succeeded in doing so. So again Bhai Khalsa had to go for another strike.

As for the government, it has not given any response in this regard so far.

Bhai Khalsa said his hunger strike could only be broken by two ways: one is death and second is the permanent release of Sikh political prisoners.

  1. Wake Guru Ji Da Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Di Fateh! Hunger strike or shunning water will not budge the government. As long as the political leaders do realize the importance of delivering timely justice no significant changes will be visible. Country’s development depends upon “cleansing the corrupt system not just streets and alley’s”….in a country of billion how does it matter if one person dies in protest…Indian political leaders are engrossed in petty street politics….everyday we read and hear of rapes….a rape case on fast track since 2 years….how pathetic can a justice system be….no matter who comes to power the situation will never change….Indian political leaders missed the last bus of evolution….
