Sikh Youth Around the World Observe Christmas Hunger Strike in Support of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa

ISO strikeAMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Individuals and members of various Sikh youth organizations including International Sikh Organization (ISO) yesterday observed a hunger strike for a day following the appeal of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who is sitting on hunger strike for indefinite period since Nov 14 for release of Sikh political prisoners various jails of India despite completion of their terms.

Bhai Khalsa had appealed to Sikh youth to observe a one day hunger strike on Dec 25 to pressurize the government on the matter of Sikh prisoners.

Here, the strike was staged outside Bularia Park by Sikhs youth led by ISO president Kanwarbir Singh, Akhand Kirtani Jatha’s Bhai Amritpal Singh and Bhai Jagmohan Singh Shant. The whole day, they chanted ‘Satnam-Waheguru’ and read Gurbani including Japji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Chaupai Sahib and Sukhmani Sahib.

Talking to media persons, Bhai Kanwarbir Singh said the entire Sikh nation felt that the struggle initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa was not for personal interests but a national one. He said in support of the struggle Sikh Sangat in great numbers are going for marches, staging hunger strikes etc.

Gurmanjit Singh Amritsar, Bikram Singh, Manjit Singh, Mandeep Singh, Gurinder Singh Shant, Kashmir Singh, Jaspreet Singh etc. are present on the occasion.
