KHANNA, Punjab—A youth named Vikram from Dhanaula has alleged that he did not throw the shoe at Parkash Badal, but rather at the position of Chief Minister. He hurled the show to express fury over growing unemployment in the state. The incident took place when Shiromani Akali Dal had organized a program to commemorate Indian Independence day in Khanna.

The youth who hurled the shoe hails from Dhanaula city in Barnala.

“I do not belong to any political party, however I follow the ideology of Sardar Bhagat Singh. Just like he threw a bomb in the Central Legislative Assembly, I have hurled the shoe on Chief Minsiter,” said Vikram Singh. He added, “I did this to wake up the Punjab community, just like Bhagat Singh had intended for the British to realize their mistakes.”

Vikram said that he is unemployed and expressed dissatisfaction at the ruling Government and all political parties for failing to provide jobs. Vikram was shortly arrested after the incident.
