NEW YORKâThe New York based Sikhs For Justice organization has alleged grave discrepancies with the petition it recently launched with the White House against Narendra Modi’s planned visit to the U.S. in September.
The human rights organization which is seeking a ban on the visit of Narendra Modi has alleged that by the morning of August 13th, the online petition had over 100,000 entries, however a bulk of the signatures were removed later on during the day.
The petition is still on-going despite the issue highlighted by Sikhs For Justice. There are currently close to 15,000 entries and before the White House considers the plea, at least 85,000 additional signatures are needed.
Narendra Modi’s visa was earlier rejected by the United States Government because of his alleged involvement in 2002 Gujarat massacres, in which thousands of Muslims were killed by mobs. A number of Muslims groups had appealed to the U.S. asking it to now hold any talks with a genocide perpetrator. In addition to the Gujarat massacres, Narendra Modi is the elected Prime Minister from the Bhartiya Janta Party, which also is responsible of conspiring the 1984 Indian Army invasion to the holiest Sikh shrine, the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Punjab.
Sikhs For Justice had tried to seek attention to the petition by launching paid ads on Facebook. In it’s campaign ads, it sent out messages appealing to Sikhs, Muslims, and Christians to boycott the Indian Prime Minister, who was also labelled as the Netanyahu of India.
