AMRITSAR SAHIB—Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh, in a sharp reaction, said that the Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar’s decision ordering Bhai Gurbakash Singh to end fast was too late and contrary to Sikh feelings and aspirations.
Commenting on edict, Kanwarpal Singh said 41 days have passed and Jathedar’s position remained confused and self-contradictory. “Had Jathedar took the lead from the first day, the issue would have resolved by now. To ensure the release of 6 detainees within specific time frame, Hukamnama should have been directed to SAD president”, said Bhai Kanwar Pal Singh. However, he clarified that Bhai Gurbakash Singh’s life is dear to the Dal Khalsa and that the organization “prays that he lives long life to serve the cause of Panth”.
Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has been on indefinite hunger strike since November 14 to seek release of 6 Sikh prisoners who have already completed their jail terms.
