Programs Continue to Remember Martyrs of June 1984 Holocaust

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Today marked the end of programs at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Chown Mehta for the 1984 remembrance programs, however, marches and protests are continuing across the globe.

33rd anniversary of June 1984 holocaust were observed at Damdami Taksal’s headquarter Chowk Mehta under the leadership of Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma which was attended by Sikhs from all over Punjab. The program witnessed a large gathering of Sikhs from all over Punjab.  Along with Sikh leaders, members of the SGPC and DSGMC also took part in the programs.

Addressing the Sikh masses on this occasion, Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji, Shaheed General Shabeg Singh Ji, Baba Thara Singh Ji and others for defending the Sikh faith. He added that by giving befitting reply to Indian army, these martyrs had proved that the current generation of Sikhs possesses same potential as of 18th century Sikhs to defeat the oppressors.

Along with the Dal Khalsa, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), the All India Sikh Students Federation led by Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad also took out a ‘Sikh Sovereignty March’ in Amritsar on June 6.The march started from Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj (Baba Deep Singh Ji) and concluded at supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Addressing the present Sikh masses on this occasion, Singh Peer Mohammad reiterated his stance to continue struggle to achieve Sikh sovereignty in peaceful manner.

A special program was also was observed at village Bhoora Kohna. Notably, village Bhoora Kohna was native village of All India Sikh Students Federation president Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh who had attained martyrdom while fighting against the Indian army during June 1984 holocaust.

Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, Giani Raghbir Singh, Giani Mann Singh, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti addressed the Sikh sangat.

Baba Avtar Singh Sur Singh Wale, Baba Sewa Singh (Khadoor Sahib), Baba Subeg Singh Kaar Sewa (Goindwal Sahib), Baba Sohan Singh Beerh sahib, Baba Balwinder Singh, Baba Joga Singh Manochahal, Baba Darshan Singh, Baba Balwant Singh Nanaksar, Baba Jaswant Singh Mukatsar. Virsa Singh Valtoha, Bibi Satwant Kaur (daughter of Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji), S. Jarnail Singh (son-in-law of Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji) and Dr. Sukhpreet Singh Udoke  were present.
