Germany—Sangat from Germany and neighbouring countries got together at Gurdwara Sri Dashmesh Singh Sabha in Cologne to remember the lives and martyrdom of Bhai Dilawar Singh Babbar, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar, Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala, Bhai Baljinder Singh Jatana, Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra and all other shaheeds (martyrs) of the Sikh Freedom Movement. The conference was organised by Babbar Khalsa Germany, chiefly at the martyrdom anniversary of Bhai Dilawar Singh Babbar.

The shaheedi conference was attended by representatives of all major Sikh organisations based in Germany. Bhai Dilawar Singh’s martyrdom is observed by Sikhs worldwide and the sangat of Gurdwara Sri Dashmesh Singh Sabha particularly organises conferences and samagams in Bhai Sahib’s memory every year.

Bhai Resham Singh Babbar (Germany) also paid homage to the Shaheeds and said that Bhai Dilawar Singh’s martyrdom freed Punjab from the rule of the Congress party which at that time had carried out Operation Blue Star, a genocide program against Sikhs. Bhai Shingara Singh Mann from France also shared the stage and revered the lives of Sikh Shaheeds. Bhai Shingara Singh is an active member of the Sikh community in France and has been working on the turban ban issue.

The conference also helped smooth recently highlighted issues between ‘Kharkoo Jathebandis’ and S. Simranjit Singh Mann. At the conference organised mainly by Babbar Khalsa Germany, Bhai Sohan Singh Kang of Shiromani Akali Dal (A) also shared his views and requested all of Guru’s sangat to support the candidates of S. Mann in the upcoming Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee elections due in a few days. Bhai Sohan Singh expressed grief over the anti-Sikh agenda of Parkash Badal and his efforts to work against the interests of the Sikh population of Punjab.
