IG Police and DC played key role in conciliating Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa
AMBALA—Police stopped the caravan of Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa, who was moving towards Amritsar Sahib to fulfill the last wish of Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa of visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib. The situation between Police and Bhai Khalsa’s caravan remained full of tension. Police kept asking Bhai Khalsa to go back to his place, but Bhai Khalsa remained firm to his path. After a long struggle, IG OP Singh and DC Mandeep Singh Brar succeeded in conciliating Bhai Khalsa and he moved back to Gurdwara Sri Lakhnaur Sahib at 5pm. But the Panj Pyare and Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were sent to Gurdwara Badshahi Bagh, Ambala.
Rumors about Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa quickly spread all over the world. Sikh Devotees from foreign countries kept on calling media persons to get clarification about these rumors. It is noteworthy that S. Avtar Singh Makkar (President, SGPC) visited Bhai Khalsa on Tuesday and Bhai Sahib acquainted him with his last wish of having Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Sri Harmandir Sahib. On this, S. Makkar quickly ordered to arrange Sri Akhand Path Sahib from 7th January and to lay bhog on 9th January. So, to participate in bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh started moving towards Amritsar Sahib with his caravan. Devotees in huge numbers started gathering around Bhai Khalsa. Intelligence Agencies warned the government about this. So, the police force was gathered on the Shambhu Barrier. Police also arrested various activists of different organizations, attempting to stem any agitation.
Reliable sources said that the Sikh devotees were forcing Bhai Khalsa to keep on moving without any fear. But Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa decided to use the “parchee” system after ardas in order to make the right decision. The result from the ardas was negative, so he cancelled his plan to visit Amritsar Sahib. Bhai Khalsa had to face huge criticism from Sikh devotees for his decision.
Clarification was made by Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa after facing huge criticism from Sikh devotees. Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa said while talking to Sikh24 that he changed his decision for the sake of Sikh devotees. Bhai Khalsa said that he doesn’t want his well wishers to become victims of any state organized killings. He said that he is not scared to die, but he cares for his well wishers. He said that Police stopped him later, but Guru Sahib’s decision to stop him was depicted in the morning.
Amritsar Sahib was kept on High Security Alert
Keeping in view the visit of Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa, Punjab Police arranged strict security in Amritsar Sahib. As soon as the government was briefed about Bhai Khalsa’s visit to Amritsar Sahib, the Government started its work rapidly, deploying personnel across the state. S. Kanwarbir Singh Gill of International Sikh Organization, Bhai Ranjit Singh of Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala, Bhai Bagicha Singh, and other Sikh leaders were arrested by the police quickly. Pathway to Sri Harmandir Sahib was kept under high security and intelligence workers were active around this. For much of the day, Bhai Khalsa’s visit to Amritsar Sahib remained a topic of debate among common people.
