#FarmersProtest: SKM announces to hold protests outside the Indian parliament from July 22 onwards

To intensify the ongoing struggle against three anti-farmers agriculture laws, the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) today announced to stage a protest in front of the Indian parliament from July 22 onwards. Notably, the Monsoon session of Indian parliament is scheduled to begin on July 19.

The farmer leaders made this announcement in a meeting held at Khanna on July 4 under the presidency of Buta Singh Burj Gill. Eminent farmer leaders Balbir Singh Rajewal, Dr. Darshan Pal, Gurnam Singh Chaduni, Jangveer Singh Chauhan, Manjit Singh Rai, Mukesh Chandar, Yogendra Yadav, Hanan Maula, Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Yudhveer Singh and others were also present in this meeting.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, the SKM leaders have specified that 200 farmers will stage protest outside the Indian parliament daily from July 22 onwards.

“We’ll send a warning letter to all the opposition parties to use every day of Monsoon session in support of farmers’ struggle so that the ruling BJP could be forced to accept the demands of farmers,” says the SKM press note released today.

The farmer leaders have said that they will also ask every parliament member, sitting in opposition, to take up the issue of farmers’ struggle during the monsoon session.

Besides this, the farmer leaders have also announced to hold a countrywide protest against the steep increase in the prices of essential commodities like petrol, diesel and LPG on July 8.

Meanwhile, these farmer leaders have deferred the program of surrounding Captain Amarinder Singh’s patriarchal residence Moti Mahal in Patiala while claiming that an improvement has been witnessed in the electricity supply across Punjab.
