Kotkapura Firing Incident: SIT questions IG Paramraj Umranangal

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The new Special Investigation Team constituted to reinvestigate the Kotkapura firing incident has picked up pace to prepare its report. The SIT has started interrogating the police cops responsible for opening unprovoked firing on protesting Sikhs at Kotkapura.

 

After interrogating Ex-DGP Sumedh Saini on May 31, the SIT officials interrogated the former IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal on June 8 for about eight hours.

Besides Umranangal, the SIT officials also interrogated VK Meena, Mantar Singh Brar, Gurcharan Singh and an inspector level police cop.

It is come to fore that the SIT cops posed almost four dozen questions to the former IG Paramraj Umranangal while interrogating him.

Meanwhile, it is learned that the SIT officials will again interrogate the Ex-DGP Sumedh Saini in the coming days but the date has not been fixed yet.

It may be recalled here that the new Special Investigation Team was constituted after the Punjab & Haryana High Court scrapped the investigation report of IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh led SIT.

The new SIT has been asked to submit its investigation report within six months.
