dateline:On January 23, the SAD president Sukhbir Badal extended condolences to the family of main victim of Behbal Kalan firing incident Surjit Singh, who had expired few days back. Sukhbir Badal also underwent meeting with the family members of Surjit Singh in a closed room.
After the meeting, Surjit Singh’s wife Jasveer Kaur, brother Malkit Singh and son Lakhwinder Singh, allegedly accused Manjinder Singh of harassing Surjit Singh through Electricity and Police departments at the behest of Congress MLAs Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon and Gurpreet Singh Kangar.
It is pertinent to note here that Manjinder Singh posed himself a nephew of Punjab Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar before the victim family however Gurpreet Singh Kangar has denied any relation with Manjinder Singh.
After extending condolences, Sukhbir Badal said that this death should be inquired by the CBI. “It was the government’s responsibility to give security and help to the only main witness of Behbal Kalan firing incident but instead of this government departments harassed him,” he added.
“Surjit Singh had informed Police department and Punjab Home affairs department regarding his harassment through letters but no one listened to him,” Sukhbir Badal said.
Sukhbir Badal also demanded that the role of congress MLA Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon and Gurpreet Singh Kangar in harassing Surjit Singh should be inquired after registering a case.
Sukhbir Badal has directed the local Akali leadership to help victim family to fight for justice. He said that the Congress had used sacrilege incidents to defame the Shiromani Akali Dal in the last assembly polls because it was not having any other issue.
Former Minister Sikandar Singh Malooka, District president Mantar Singh Brar, Speaker Parmbans Singh Bunty Romana, Suba Badal, Gurchet Singh Dhillon, Yadwinder Zaildar Jaito, Kuldeep Singh Behbal, Amarpreet Singh Dhillon were also present on this occasion.
