Congress nominates genocide culprit Kamal Nath as its star campaigner for Delhi assembly polls

NEW DELHI, India—The Congress party has once again rubbed salt on the unhealed wounds of the 1984 Sikh genocide victims by nominating Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath as a star campaigner for the upcoming Delhi assembly polls. The Congress party released a list of its star campaigners on January 22 which also enlists the former Indian PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and former Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu as star campaigners.

The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has strongly objected over Congress party’s move of nominating genocide culprit Kamal Nath as its star campaigner for Delhi assembly polls.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that the Congress party has depicted its anti-Sikhism face by appointing Kamal Nath as a star campaigner.

“The Sikhs living in Delhi will also strongly oppose the Congress’ move of patronizing a genocide culprit,” he added.

It is noteworthy here that Kamal Nath had incited a mob at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib for burning two Sikhs alive on November 1, 1984. An FIR number 601/84 was registered in the Parliament Street Police Station on November 1, 1984 in this concern.
