Release orders of Bhai Nand Singh arrives at Patiala jail; Likely to be released permanently within a day or two

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Sikh Relief, which is active for the welfare of political Sikh prisoners from a long time, has revealed that the Indian government has ordered the release of political Sikh prisoner Bhai Nand Singh. Notably, Bhai Nand Singh is currently languishing in the Patiala jail despite completing the life sentence addressed to him in several cases including the Burail jailbreak case.

It is pertinent to note here that the Sikh Relief had moved a petition in the Punjab & Haryana High Court seeking permanent release of Bhai Nand Singh in 2014.

During the hearing on this petition on October 30, the Punjab government had told the High Court bench that it was going to release Bhai Nand Singh in coming days.

“The government orders regarding release of Bhai Nand Singh have arrived in Patiala jail. We are completing the legal formalities including furnishing of two bonds worth Rs. 15,000/-,” reads a press note by Sikh Relief while adding that Bhai Nand Singh will get released within a day or two.
