1984 Sikh Genocide: DSGMC to move fresh plea in SC seeking status report about SIT’s working on Kanpur related cases

NEW DELHI, India—The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has announced to move a fresh plea in the Supreme Court of India demanding status report about the last six months working of the Special Investigation Team on Kanpur related 1984 Sikh genocide cases. Notably, the Uttar Pradesh government had constituted a SIT on the directions of Indian Supreme Court, but the SIT has recently revealed that crucial files of several murder and dacoity cases were missing.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi on September 18, the DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa and the All India Genocide Victim Relief Committee’s head Kuldeep Singh Bhogal informed that they will file this fresh plea in the Indian Supreme Court on September 23.

Expressing concern over the recent reports about the missing of crucial files pertaining to several murder and dacoity cases, they said that the police have responded in a very strange manner whenever the SIT demanded records of Kanpur related 1984 Sikh genocide cases during the last six months.

“We will ask the SCI to summon whole record of the work done by the SIT during the past six months and to reveal how many and which cases have been opened by the SIT out of the total 1100 cases,” they added.
