CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A highly objectionable video has surfaced over social media in which an idol of Hindu lord Sri Ganesh has been depicted sitting in place of Granthi Singh in attendance behind a structure like Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji while holding whisk. Further, three idols of rats have been also made sit on structures like Harmonium in a similar manner like Raagi Singhs sit inside a Gurdwara Sahib.
Behind all this structural setup, a banner containing photo of sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib could be seen. Similarly, a banner with representational photos of great Sikh masters and Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji could also be seen installed on the west wall of this structure.
Also, the Sikh symbol ੴcould also be observed inscribed over the Rumala Sahib placed in front of this representational structure.
Meanwhile, the apex Sikh body SGPC has taken strong notice of this video. The SGPC has lodged a police complaint to the Amritsar Police Commissioner and the IG (Cyber Crime) in this concern.
SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that the anti-Sikh elements are deliberately posting such content over social media. He rued over the failure of Police Department’s cyber crime cell in identifying and bringing the culprits to justice despite day by day rising surfacing of such anti-Sikhism content.
This all is done to disturb the peace. The cyber cell of government of India should have noticed it by itself and initiated the action rather then waiting for SGPC to lodge the complaint. Highly disappointed .
