Thrashing of Nishant Sharma: Bhai Ramandeep Singh and two others produced in Court

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In a case pertaining to the thrashing of Shiv Sena (Hindustan) leader Nishant Sharma, political Sikh prisoner Bhai Ramandeep Singh Bagga and two others were produced before the sessions court of Ropar on September 6.

Sharing the development with media, Bhai Bagga’s legal counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed that the court adjourned hearing of this case to September 17 without any proceeding.

It may be recalled here that Nishant Sharma, the national president of Shiv Sena Hindustan, was beaten up by some Sikh prisoners headed by Bhai Ramandeep Singh Bagga in Ropar jail on September 25 last year. Nishant Sharma was put in Ropar jail to serve four year sentence addressed to him by the Court in a case pertaining to swindling Rupees 1,50,000 of Kurali based Anil Kumar.    

Later, the Ropar police had indicted three Sikh prisoners Bhai Ramandeep Singh Bagga, Bhai Bahadur Singh and Bhai Balpreet Singh under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) for beating up the Shiv Sena Hindustan’s national president Nishant Sharma. Beside the Sikh prisoners, three Jail employees namely, Malkit Singh (head warden), wardens Sodhi Ram and Kashmir Singh were also indicted under same charges.
