High Court extends bail period of Ex-SSP Charanjit Sharma for one month

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On July 16, the Punjab & Haryana High Court extended the period of bail granted to Ex-SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma on medical grounds. Notably, Charanjit Sharma had succeeded in securing bail from the High Court on May 29 this year.

In his bail plea, Sharma had told the Court that his heart’s duct was 90% blocked due to which he has to undergo surgery. After getting confirmation of the facts, the Court had granted him bail till July 2.

It is learnt that Charanjit Sharma has now again told the Court that he needs one more stunt surgery for his heart duct’s blockage following which the Court extended his bail period for one month while adjourning next hearing onto August 14.

Charanjit Sharma is facing double murder charges in Behbal Klan firing case and attempt to murder charges in Kotkapura firing case. He was arrested by the Special Investigation Team from his house on January 27 this year when he was in an attempt to flee abroad. During the raid, he had even tried to run from his home but the Police cops had nabbed him.
