Behbal Klan & Kotkapura Firing Cases: Punjab government demands more time to lodge reply to petition demanding CBI investigation

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Punjab & Haryana High Court has deferred the hearing of a petition seeking  CBI investigation into Behbal Klan and Kotkapura firing cases onto July 26. It is learnt that the Punjab government has demanded more time to lodge answer and also told the Court that only advocate general will debate on this issue in the Court.

It is noteworthy here that the then SHO Gurdeep Singh and constable Rashpal Singh had demanded CBI investigation into the Behbal Klan and Kotkapura firing cases by moving petitions in the Punjab & Haryana High Court while alleging biased investigation by the Punjab government. They had also demanded the scrapping of an FIR registered in the Kotkapura police station against the police cops besides requesting a ban on investigation into these cases by any other agency.

The High Court had asked the Punjab government to lodge reply about the allegations leveled by the petitioners by July 8 but the Punjab government said that it needs more to lodge reply.
