First Ever International Nagar Kirtan To Be Organized to Mark Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th Gurpurab

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The SGPC has announced to organize an international Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 550-year Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The nagar kirtan will start from Sri Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on July 25, 2019. Nagar Kirtan will reach Punjab and 65 major cities of 16 states of India over the course of 100 days and will complete at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi.

SGPC President Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal informed Sikh24 that during the commencement of Nagar Kirtan, a special jatha of 550 sangat will be sent to Sri Nankana Sahib Pakistan and the arrival of Nagar Kirtan on the India-Pakistan border at Wagah-Attari will be a great welcome.

“There will be a great fervour with the involvement of religious, social, political figures,” Bhai Longowal said. He added, “The SGPC has also planned to have an international level seminar in Science Bhawan Delhi. In this seminar, besides the President of India and other prominent personalities will be invited.”

He said that apart from this seminar on the ideology of Guru Sahib, a seminar would also be held at Guru Gobind Singh Sabha at Delhi Gate. Likewise, in the five major cities of the country, there will be Gurmat functions. He said that Guru Sahib had reached the entire world during his visits and the SGPC would also organize a Gurmat function in different countries to remember the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

According to Bhai Longowal, in addition to the major events to be held at Sultanpur Lodhi on the occasion of 550th Prakash Purab, the SGPC will continue the process of various Gurmat functions, seminars and municipal commemorations.
