Kirtan Competitions from Tomorrow; First Competition at Guru Ram Dass Medical College (Amritsar)

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—With an objective of linking Sikh youths to the Gurbani, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has chalked out a program for Kirtan competitions under the series of Gawho Sachi Bani. Prior to this, two parts of these Kirtan competitions were successfully completed in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

SGPC Chief Secretary Dr. Roop Singh said that the third part of the Gawho Sachi Bani dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birthday will commence from June 10. He added that in these Kirtan competitions being conducted in accordance with the directions of SGPC president Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, Sikh participants from 16 to 25 years of age will be able to participate.

He further informed that the first competition will be held on June 10 at Guru Ram Dass Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center (Amritsar). “The second competition will be held on June 12 at Mata Sahib Girls College Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda), the third competition will be held on June 15 at Mata Sahib Kaur Auditorium of Mata Sundari College for Women (New Delhi) and the fourth one will be held on June 18 at Giani Ditt Singh Auditorium of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar Engineer College (Fatehgarh Sahib),” he added.

He also informed that a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs will be given to the contestant standing first in these Kirtan competitions, while the other contestants standing on second and third positions will be given a cash reward of  Rs. 3 lakhs and  Rs. 1 lakh respectively. Apart from this, two more talented contestants will also be given a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 each.
