Kotkapura Firing Case: Court Seeks Personal Appearance of Paramraj Umranangal and Charanjit Sharma on June 6

FARIDKOT, Punjab—On May 28, the Special Investigation Team filed a chargesheet against the suspended IG Paramraj Umranangal and the Ex-SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma in Kotkapura firing case in the court of judicial magistrate Ekta Uppal. The move came after a few hours of IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh’s reinstatement in the Special Investigation Team.

Notably, the Election Commission had removed IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh from the SIT on the complaint of Shiromani Akali Dal but the Punjab government has reinstated him in the Special Investigation Team.

It is learnt that the court of judicial magistrate Ekta Uppal has deferred the next hearing onto June 6 and has ordered the suspended IG Paramraj Umranangal to appear personally before the Court. Similarly, the Court has also directed the Patiala jail authorities to produce the Ex-SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma before the Court.

Meanwhile, the SIT members have said that the investigation in Kotkapura firing case was still ongoing and the chargesheet will also be file against other accused.
